A squint is a misalignment of the eye. It can be inward (Esotropia), outward (Exotropia), upward (Hypertropia), or downward (Hypotropia). Squint is also the common name for “strabismus,” where eyes are not pointing in the same direction.

What are the symptoms to know that someone has squint eyes?

We can see the eye deviates... constant or intermittent squint.

What causes squint eyes in adults or kids?

  • Most cases of strabismus are of unknown cause.
    • Unequal pulling of muscles or paralysis of eye muscles. A child can be born with a squint.
  • Underlying refractive errors.

Accommodation involves convergence... inward squint when focusing on near objects.

  • Underlying systemic disorder
    • Common in children with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, etc.
