Paediatric Ophthalmology is a field of ophthalmology which deals with all eye conditions in children from birth onwards. The Paediatric Ophthalmologist is trained as an adult eye specialist who is additionally sub-specialised in children’s eyes.

Commonly known as Child Eye Specialist, this doctor can treat all types of vision and eye conditions for children and adults. Common eye issues amongst children today are vision, ocular conditions, squints, lazy eyes, cross eyes, uveitis and nystagmus.

At Ara Damansara Medical Centre, we provide solutions to all types of children’s eye conditions. Read on for some common conditions found in children’s vision impairments.

Oculoplastic surgeons also deal with the paediatric age group for a wide variety of eyelid disorders. They may be congenital or acquired in nature. One of the most common congenital eyelid disorders is blepharoptosis (droopy eyelid).

As a surgical subspecialty of ophthalmology, oculoplastic surgery entails the medical and surgical treatment of various abnormalities in the area around the face which include the eyes and eyelids; addressing a variety of issues in the tear (lacrimal) system, as well as the facial area around it. At Ara Damansara Medical Centre, oculoplastic surgery is offered to patients to address issues such as cysts and tumors on the eyelids, ptosis (drooping eyelids), dry eye syndrome, thyroid eye disease, orbital conditions and artificial eyes.
